VANGST

Stichting Biesbosch Museum Eiland has a vast collection that shows how the former residents of the Biesbosch are connected to the environment. A large part of this collection is stored in het museum’s depot. Morphic was asked to select an object from this hidden collection and create an artistic reaction based upon that object.

A hundred year old fish trap and the data of a large group of labourers where digitally transformed into shapes and colour codes. This data was then shaped back into tangible ceramic objects. By doing this, a number of people’s lives that were reduced to mere numbers and data, were transformed into a new and tangible presence at the museum.
